2/23 Mission Monday: 1,4-Dioxane: What Public Water Suppliers Need to Know (Webinar) IEPA#22697
Welcome to Mission Monday! Mission Monday is the Illinois Section’s new webinar series designed with our mission in mind: providing resources for the advocacy of safe and sustainable water through enriching membership, mentoring, and increasing public awareness. The education that you receive from this series is focused on the topics that you need to continue to supply safe and sustainable water to all of Illinois. Once a month we’re bringing education to you on the topics you need the most. This series is free for our members and $25 for non-members. Not a member? Join today at AWWA – www.awwa.org/join. CEU TYPE: Dual Credit Technical (DCT) WEBINAR TYPE: Technical SUMMARY: 1,4-dioxane is an emerging contaminant of concern for water utilities nationwide, but has been overshadowed by PFAS in the national discourse. Nevertheless, water suppliers are faced with growing regulatory attention to this mobile and persistent pollutant. The costs of removing it are expensive and the treatment technology is novel. Sher Edling LLP leads the nation in recovering the costs of addressing 1,4-dioxane contamination. Sher Edling attorneys will be discussing what water suppliers need to know about how 1,4-dioxane gets into the water supply, how to remove it, and how to place the costs of removal on polluters rather than ratepayers.
