Welcome to ISAWWA's Mentee Profiles

 

Sarah Towle

Sarah is currently the District Engineer for Rend Lake Conservancy District.  She earned a degree in civil and environmental engineering and is a licensed P.E.  Sarah has been in the industry for 6-15 years, beginning as a project engineer, then a project manager, followed by her work as the district engineer. 

Sarah is looking for traditional one-on-one mentoring and hopes to improve her public speaking, management, leadership, and construction inspection skills. She enjoys the outdoors, camping, hiking and running. 

 

Megan Fox

Megan is currently a student at the University of Illinois and hoping to enter the water industry upon completing her degree.  She is very involved in the ISAWWA as well. 

Megan is looking for traditional one-on-one mentoring and hopes to improve her networking skills and ease her transition from student to water professional.

She enjoys swimming, hiking, cooking, baking, and being outdoors. 

 

Josh Orin

Josh is currently a Water Operator at the City of Naperville and is a Certified Class C Drinking Water Operator.  He has been in the industry for 6-15 years, beginning as a camp ground manager, then a water and sewer repair laborer, followed by an equipment operator, and now a water operator.

Josh is looking for traditional one-on-one mentoring and hopes to gain insight into career planning, management and leadership, as well as several technical aspects of water treatment and distribution.  

Josh enjoys coaching and watching baseball and helping young athletes achieve their goals. 

 

Martina McNulty

Martina is currently in marketing and sales support at Midwest Water Group, Inc.  She earned a degree in Marketing and holds a Digital Marketing Certificate and Professional Sales Certificate.  She has been in the water industry under five years, holding customer service, human resources, accountant, and executive assistant positions prior t entering the water industry. 

Martina is looking for traditional one-on-one mentoring, and hopes to grow in project and time management, developing career goals and growing her skill set.

She enjoys spending time with family, reading, cooking, music and the outdoors. 

 

John Velez

John is a Construction Superintendent for Chicagoland Asset Services and is a Licensed Real Estate Broker.  He has been in the industry under five years, having spent time as a general contractor, real estate appraiser, broker and property manager prior to entering the water industry, and looks forward to transitioning into a public works position in the future.

John is looking for traditional one-on-one mentoring and hopes to obtain his water operator license and transition into a public works/water operator position.

He enjoys spending time with his family, snowmobiling, boating and CrossFit. 

 

Jaylen Taylor

Jaylen is currently a Sanitary Engineer for the City of Chicago and earned his degree in Chemical Engineering.  He has been in the industry under five years, beginning as a water chemist and transitioning into a sanitary engineer position. 

Jaylen is looking for traditional one-on-one mentoring and hopes to gain insight into practical engineering, career planning and networking.

He enjoys traveling, trying new foods and playing sports. 

 

Lydia Kurtz

Lydia is currently a student at the University of Illinois studying Civil and Environmental Engineering.  She is looking for traditional one-on-one mentoring and hopes to develop a strong network in the environmental field.  She enjoys reading, working out, watching movies, drawing, and playing piano, ukulele and flute.
