 Who We AreThe Diversity and Inclusion Committee is committed to improving diversity awareness and inclusion throughout our membership. We want to celebrate and honor every unique individual and the experiences that they bring to ISAWWA while cultivating an environment in which all our members feel engaged and represented. When it comes to the total water Industry, we believe everyone should feel welcome.WHAT WE DOOur committee plans several activities and supplements to further promote our mission. Some of these activities include a T-Shirt fundraiser to raise funds for D&I education, creating badge ribbons at WATERCON to encourage acknowledgment
of diverse backgrounds, creating a self-paced D&I webinar series, and encouraging WATERCON attendees to share the word “water” in their native language to create a unique word art. We’re currently working on interviewing members
to “Share Your Water Story” to be used in social media posts and Splash throughout the year, planning a social event, and planning webinars highlighting how members are promoting diversity and inclusion. WHy we do itD&I Committee goals include achieving a membership base that is reflective of the diversity in our state; employing practices that encourage member inclusion; developing, training, and maintaining an environment of diversity and inclusion within the industry; and recognizing and leveraging the full value that diversity of people and ideas can bring to our organization. What's in it for You?When you join the D&I Committee, you become an important part of the promotion and encouragement of diversity in the total water industry alongside other water professionals committed to the same cause.
Meeting InformationVirtual meetings are held on the last Friday of each month at 11 AM. An in-person meeting is held once at the annual conference or as needed.
