Member Spotlight - Andy LeJeune

Title/Position: Territory Sale Manager

Company/Utility: Jim Jolly Sales, Inc.

What's your primary job? - Building long term relationships with clients by being a resource of information to help solve problems with innovative municipal water and wastewater products that can increase performance, save time, safer to use, and have a total lowest cost of ownership.

How long have you worked in the total water industry? - I have worked in the total water industry for 12 years.

How did you get involved in the industry? - My friend that is in the industry told me about a job opportunity as an inside salesman for a rep firm, which I am very thankful!

What sets you apart in the industry? - In many ways, I am just like everyone else in this industry -we are trying to do the best at our jobs and enjoy the fun times along the way! I can share a few things that people have told me in my water journey. Energetic and focused on product results that make a difference for my clients. Details make the difference by providing clear information and solutions.

What do you enjoy the most about being involved in the industry? -The people make the difference. Whether it's co-workers, current clients, and future clients, we all have the same goals and can work together to achieve them. My enjoyable days at work would involve stopping out at a municipality for product 'show and tell', speaking about product/safety training, and engineering lunch and learns.

What is the best piece of advice you've ever received or have given to another person? I try to remember that listening is better than talking. Unfortunately, my excitement for some of the solutions we provide gets in the way.

What's your idea of a perfect day? -Perfect day would include a great breakfast and good coffee, then getting some things done around the house, then hanging out with family and our dog Otis at the pool with some sushi for lunch. Then later grill some steaks, shrimp, and veggies with friends for dinner. Then wrap up with a firepit and a glass of good tequila. Family-Food-Dog-Friends

Fun Fact(s) - My license plate says VALVEGUY. Our dog Otis can retrieve specific toys by the description. If you like spicy food, ask me for my blend of dried garden hot peppers. I never had a bad day of fishing. I never met a sandy beach that I didn't like.

How Many Employees Work at Your Utility? - 39 employees between 3 Divisions (Water & Sewer, Streets, Fleet)

Have you had any significant capital improvements in the last 5 years that you'd like to share?  We have had many projects to improve our water systems.  Here are just a few:

Pacific Ave. Green Infrastructure: The project installed 14 bioretention rain gardens in the right-of-way along Pacific Ave., between Dora St. and Ruby St., covering 1200 square yards with a capacity of 80,000 gallons.  These gardens replaced impervious pavement and are designed to capture, detain, and filter stormwater before releasing it into the sewer system.  This helps reduce sever backups, particularly benefiting residents and businesses connected to the combined sewer systems downstream by lowering the risk of backups into their buildings.

Panoramic Avenue: This project focused on enhancing the longevity and efficiency of the underground infrastructure on Panoramic Avenue. Sewer lining will reinforce aging pipes, reducing the risk of leaks, blockages, and costly repairs. This method extends the lifespan of the sewer system while minimizing disruptions to the community.

O’Hare Industrial Corridor Utility Replacement: The O’Hare Industrial Corridor is comprised of several million square feet of industrial/warehousing that is a key employment center for the region. The underground infrastructure and roadway that supports this corridor has reached its serviceable life and is in the need of replacement. The project included replacement of sanitary sewers, additional storm sewers, water main replacement and street reconstruction.

What is one of your recent accomplishments that you'd like to share? - We recently did a restoration project on our two 5-million-gallon storage tanks at our King Street Pumping Station that USG Water Solutions did for use this year.

What's a fun fact about your system? - We sell a little over 3 Millon gallons of water a day, but about 20 yrs. ago we sold 6 Millon gallons a day. Funny how things change over time in our industry.

Any other interesting information? - Our Utility sells water to the only factory in the world that makes the Butterfinger Candy Bar.
