| Water Efficiency Committee |
| Who We AreThe Water Efficiency Committee is an active and varied group comprised of water professional representatives from utilities, consultants, government agencies, and non-profit organizations who work to promote the value of water and water services through the lens of water efficiency. We participate in this committee because we are passionate about the total water industry and understand the need to provide additional resources to continually educate others about water efficiency. We have fun and create supportive opportunities for water supply utilities to engage in sustainable water management practices, including non-revenue water reduction and efficiency program. WHAT WE DOInitiatives our committee has had to-date include the development and coordination of the Water Saver Award - made to recognize leaders in water efficiency while also allowing them to share their effective practices with others; hosting an annual Water Loss Seminar and Water Audit Trainings – the Water Loss Seminar has had continuous success in bringing in national speakers to present ideas being implemented in other states; and preparation of the Water Energy Nexus Survey and Analysis – a survey conducted to learn more about the energy intensity of Illinois’ water supplies and how it’s changed over time to assist utilities interested in increasing their energy efficiency. It’s the passion of committee members that generally drives our initiatives. We are open and encourage new ideas and initiatives that are consistent with our objectives. WHy we do itThe Water Efficiency Committee’s main goal is to provide resources and educational materials about water efficiency for utilities. Additionally, there are 4 main objectives: (1) communication, education and legislation surrounding water efficiency through the creation of useful materials and webinar opportunities, (2) planning, evaluation, and research around existing and cutting-edge water efficiency concepts and news, (3) programs and technology related to water efficiency, and (4) involvement with other regions and associated AWWA Sections. Completing these 4 objectives helps to accomplish our main goal. What's in it for You?Participation in the committee is a rewarding opportunity to make a difference by ensuring sustainable water resource practices are being used now and moving forward into the future! It also provides an easy way to network with colleagues
and counterparts both from ISAWWA and other organizations.
