Nomination - Annual Officer Election

2025-2026 ISAWWA Board of Trustees

We need you!  A tremendous opportunity exists for ISAWWA members who want to develop and apply their leadership skills through service to fellow members as an officer on our Board of Trustees.


The Call for Nominations is now open through September 15 and we are seeking candidates for the following positions:

 

  • Vice-Chair
  • Secretary Treasurer
  • District 2A
  • District 2B
  • District 4
  • District 5
  • AWWA Director
  • Young Professional Trustee at Large
Board service is a chance to grow personally and professionally, to develop skills, gain unique experience and make lasting connections with a team of other passionate and motivated professionals.  ISAWWA has a team of dedicated staff in Naperville, IL who make the board's job as easy as possible.  They take care of managing ISAWWA day to day enabling the board to focus on matters of strategic importance and which can help improve our programs and services that we offer to our members.
  • The Vice Chair position serves for one year and has to have served a full term as a trustee or secretary treasurer. The Vice Chair term begins a four year commitment as Vice-Chair, Chair Elect, Chair and Past Chair in subsequent years.

  • Trustees need to reside or work in the district that they will represent and serve a two year term.  Trustees can serve a total of two terms as trustee. 

  • The Secretary Treasurer position is a two year term with a two term limit.

  • The Young Professional Trustee at Large shall be a young professional as defined by AWWA (35 and under or less than 10 years in the profession) at the start of their elected term.  They will serve a two year term and can serve a total of two terms in this position.

  • All candidates must be members of the Illinois Section AWWA or an employee of an Illinois Section AWWA service provider member. (organizations and utility memberships)

  • All candidates selected for the ballot will conduct a virtual interview with members of the nominating committee and share a letter of support from their employer.
Candidates must be willing to accept a leadership role for the future of our Section and have the time to dedicate to fulfilling the responsibilities.

Help lead your Association and profession into the future by nominating a colleague or yourself to one of the open positions. The call for nominations ends on September 15th and the election will conclude by December 31.

The Illinois Section AWWA (ISAWWA) Board as a whole has consistent focus on ISAWWA long term impacts, results, purposes, and opportunities that serve the needs of members and the profession. Officers embody excellence through a disciplined approach, adhering to the highest standard of ethical conduct in all aspects of guidance, decision-making, and leadership of the association.

Officers play a key resource role in ensuring the policies, procedures, and communications reflect and support ISAWWA’s vision and mission. Nominees should be open to collective decision making after encouraging and considering diverse viewpoints and experience evaluating and impacting organizational performance in terms of measurable strategic results. Nominees should clearly understand the distinction and have respect for both board, volunteer,and management roles.

The average time commitment per board member is a approximately three hours per week. The Board utilizes technology to conduct regular business meetings, with a minimum of an all-committee call quarterly.

In addition the Board meets at least three times per year, once during the ISAWWA Conference and at another time determined by the Board.

ISAWWA does not support travel expenses for official board business meetings. ISAWWA encourages Board members to attend nationally sponsored events such as the Regional Officers Meeting, Summer Workshop and Membership Summit. Travel to nationally sponsored events other than ACE is supported by ISAWWA on a limited basis.
