Pressure Vacuum Breakers and Spill Resistant Vacuum Breakers are not allowed in Illinois. In 1991, the Illinois Plumbing Code was changed to require all lawn sprinkler systems be equipped with an RPZ, The Pressure Vacuum Breaker was never a device recognized in Illinois. In addition, the ASSE 1056 Spill Resistant Vacuum Breaker has never been approved in IL.
