Backflow - RPZ

Hello,

Would you please tell me if I need to have the "Backflow” device (RPZ), that is installed on my Lawn sprinkler system, inspected annually—if the system is connected to my private well and I do not have public or city water coming to my property, in the state of Illinois?

I have not been able to find that information when it concerns a private well.

If you cannot answer my question would you please tell me who could?

Thank you..............Bob Z

The State of Illinois Plumbing Code does not differentiate between a private potable water system and a public potable water system.

The State of Illinois plumbing Code Section 890.1140(d) indicates

d) Lawn Sprinklers. Any lawn sprinkler connected to a potable water supply shall be equipped with an RPZ. The RPZ may be located outside provided that it is protected from freezing or is removed at the end of the season, and it complies with Section 890.1130(g)(1)
