| Total Water Committee |
Who We AreThe Total Water Committee is a group of water professionals interested in identifying the benefits that collectively managing multiple steps of the water cycle (drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, reuse, etc.) can bring to our industry, state, economy, taxpayers, public health, and the environment. What we doOur committee explores potential uses of non-traditional source waters based on quality “fit-for-purpose" use and seeks to showcase these innovative uses throughout Illinois. The use of treated wastewater for ornamental irrigation such as in golf courses is an example of this practice being put into place. why we do itWe believe water should be judged by its quality instead of its history. Multiple steps of the water cycle can be managed collectively for synergy through integrated water management, meaning there are still source waters methods that have yet to be discovered/developed, and we hope to find them. What's in it for You?By considering the water cycle as one water, operational efficiencies can be identified, such as considering water reuse use for irrigation and increased nutrient removal to meet state nutrient reduction goals. This work is extremely important in improving the quality of water in many facets of our lives, and joining this committee allows you to directly contribute to this cause. MEETING INFORMATIONMonthly hour-long meetings are held virtually via Zoom.
