Title/Position: Owner Company/Utility: Caminer Law, LLC What's your primary job? - Responsible for the day-to-day operations of running a legal business. In addition, Caminer Law has recently expanded its estate planning services by offering a more streamlined, automated, educational process. How long have you worked in the total water industry? - 28 Years How did you get involved in the industry? - As part of my work with the City of Chicago, I had the opportunity to take a position at the Water Department. It was a great decision because I worked with and learned from smart, innovative, and dedicated people. Now, in private practice, I can work with more driven and forward- thinking utilities, vendors, and professionals that make me a better lawyer. |
What sets you apart in the industry? - As a lawyer in the water industry, I work with staff from every area of water- production, treatment and delivery, maintenance and renewal. I work with engineers, trade people, administrative, and customer service personnel. I am able to understand and merge the business of water with the legal requirements of the utility. What do you enjoy the most about being involved in the industry? - I enjoy working with utilities to find solutions that meet their needs. For example, I have been assisting communities with their initial study, recommendations, ordinance changes, IDNR Lake Michigan Allocation permit applications, hearings, and water purchase and other related agreements as they move from well water to lake water. I am so grateful to play a small part in the process that ensures a viable, sustainable, quality source of water now and into the future. What is the best piece of advice you've ever received or have given to another person? - Make informed decisions without leaving things to chance. What’s your idea of a perfect day? – I enjoy a long walk outdoors, spending time with my family, especially our granddaughter, traveling, and being productive in a way that hopefully will leave things better than I found them. Fun Fact – At one time I was OSHA 40-hour hazmat trained and could don a hazmat suit and SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) unit! |
